Twilight movie doesn't live up the to hype. This is a featured page

Don't get me wrong here. I ADORED the books. I read them on a whim, picked it up wondering what all the fuss was about. And against my strong will, I fell in love with the story that when analysed, is actually very terrible. Nevertheless, I couldn't get it off my mind.
So you can imagine my disappointment when I saw the movie. It lived up to NOTHING. Infact, as a movie, it was sh!t. As a representation of one of my favourite books, it was even worse. The acting was so bad it was hilarious, the special fx pathetic, and the script was pathetic.
Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen) may serve as some good eye candy, but for most of the movie he looked constipated. In the first classroom scene, his overreaction to the scent of Bella's blood was ridiculous, to the point of hilarity. To prove a point; most of the people in the cinema laughed at this scene. Although, to be fair, his acting did improve with the end of the movie (with some exceptions).
Kristen Stewart (Bella Swan) was a different case. She was terrible the whole way through. I hate to be scathing, but her erratic eye blinking, along with her deadpan eyes and monotonous voice were a turn-off. She constantly looked bored, and half-awake, and didn't seem that amazing. Although I didn't much like her in the book, Kristen Stewart made the character of Bella somehow more repugnant.
Other than the two MAIN characters (ironic, I know) I believe the rest of the characters were casted pretty well. Jacob was amazing at his part, though there wasn't much seen of him, and the rest of the Cullen family (maybe with the exception of Jasper. Although he was meant to be in pain, he did look more constipated than Edward). Also, the villains were played extremely well, to be honest.

Now lets move on the the 'choppy editing'.My boyfriend had not read these books- we walk out of the cinemas, he didn't know what had happened in the movie. Only someone who had read the Twilight books would understand what the hell had just transpired in that movie theatre. There were so many pointless characters (eg. Jacob) who play such bigger parts in other movies, but had to be introduced for the sake of it in Twilight. Readers would of course, know all about Jacob- but other people would not. Even so, assuming that the movie was aimed toward Twilight readers...the plot was barely recognisable. Things were sped up and taken out, and instead we got a half-assed video, which went too fast to portray the depth of their love. Instead we got some scene which showed them having deep conversations for a while, and then they were in love and blah blah.

To be continued..

I know the critics said that it followed the book. How would the know! Have they read the book? Probably not. The few lies that he said that were from the book were in the wrong scenes. I understand that they had to cut some stuff out but not change it completely. I'm surprised that Stephenie Meyer didn't tell them something. She should give the director some tips. I heard her and the director got along well but sometimes had fights about the movie. I was still very dissapointed with the movie and who they casted as Jasper and Rosalie.

I agree that if you didn't read the books, you were lost; that's how my husband and I were. However, I think Rob did a wonderful job in the movie. I didnt like how they added the three bad vamps in or the greenhouse or the killing of Charlies friend, or how when Edward was telling Bella about his family, it cut into two different places with two different outfits for them. (The scenes where they were sitting by the water and he told her how they survive off animal blood, and the scene where they are sitting under the trees and Edward is completely wet.) Then the scene jumps back to them sitting by the water again in the same clothes as the 1st scene I stated! What was that all about? Overall, I think Rob was excellant as Edward! As for Kristen, she looked tired or high maybe half of the movie, but I still think she did a great job as Bella. Not as good as Rob, but still really good. I love the entire cast, but what happened to Lauren? Why did they turn the "girls ask guys dance" into the "prom"? So many errors on the parts of the directors, producers, and Stepanie herself! Like you said, a Twilight fan would understand the movie to a point, but someone who never read the books would have no clue!

kfabu01 Twilight Movie Lets Down Book 0 Oct 13 2009, 3:48 PM EDT by kfabu01

I read the series of books numerous times, and I am completely hooked and in love with them! I am all for Team Edward, which is why I am on this site. I feel like the movie didn't do any justice for the book. I watched the movie before reading the books and I wasn't that into it. I read the books to try to understand the movie better, and I cannot tell you how upset I was about the movie. Meyers did such a wonderful job on these books, and let the movie go to hell! I own the movie and watched it time and time again, but that is just to see Edward and hear his voice! LOL However, they did things such as change the teachers name to bringing in a greenhouse scene. They put about 30% of the book into the movie and only about 10% was actually in the correct way. Why take a worldwide bestseller and do that to the movie? I am hoping New Moon will be closer to the book than the first movie. Dont get me wrong, I think the cast was wonderful in the 1st movie, but it was sad to see so much of the book left out and new unrelated material added to the movie. In all honesty, I think they should have either made two movies for each of the books, made the movie longer to fit the book, or made the series into a T.V. series (Like True Blood or Dexter). I hope the rest of the movies are more intact with the book as well as longer, because I know that us TRUE TWILIGHT fans will sit there to watch the movie, even if its 3hrs. long! Hopefully others are saying the same and the producers will rethink their strategy!
