The film Twilight is based off a young adult novel of the same name by author Stephenie Meyer, which is in turn part of the larger Twilight series which comprises four novels. Twilight was published in October of 2005 and within a month had become the #5 best-selling young adult novel on the New York Times bestseller list. Although critical reception has been mixed, the Twilight series has gained a cult following of loyal and enthusiastic fans.

When asked about inspiration for Twilight, Meyer states that she got the idea from a vivid dream she had one night. In that dream, she saw a boy and a girl conversing in a meadow. The boy was a handsome vampire who was commenting on how he felt compelled to kill the female despite the fact that he was falling in love with her. The girl was your normal, every day teenager, and she was falling in love with the vampire as well.

This dream marked the beginning of a passionate, months-long writing spree and eventually became chapter 13 of Twilight. As her first complete novel, Stephenie pursued publication knowing little about the process. Fortunately, her story of a forbidden romance spoke for itself and it wasn't long before she found a literary agent who got Twilight published - only six months after that fateful dream.

I've read the twilight saga twice and I was wondering if anyones read The Host by stephine meyer. I read it and It was kind of hard to follow at first but then it got good.
